FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

I do accept insurance through your out of network benefits if you would like to use them. I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement or we can utilize a company called Thrizer who will do the submitting for you. You can call your insurance company and ask for your out of network benefits for CPT code 90837 for individual therapy.

I am an out of network provider for your benefit and for mine. Insurance companies have decided they have the power to dictate your course of treatment. They get to decide the total length of your treatment, the length of individual sessions, the therapeutic interventions utilized, the location of sessions, and more each year. They require a diagnosis from a specific list to approve treatment and that diagnosis becomes part of your medical record. For many, this label following them will have no repercussions, but for some, there can be consequences down the road for employment, insurance, and more. The “medically necessary” diagnosis requirement the Insurance companies have mandated means that therapists are often forced to deny care to people seeking it or stretch the truth to ensure people can receive the care they need. By not using insurance benefits, I can offer you the highest level of discretion and the greatest quality of care.

How much does it cost?

Session costs vary based on your unique needs. In general though, virtual sessions for individual therapy cost $155 for all sessions after the intake session which is $200. Virtual couples sessions cost $200 for all sessions after the intake session which is $250.

For in-person sessions, costs vary based on location and need. I have to factor in the time spent traveling and the details of the therapy you are seeking. Typical prices for house calls in Northwest Indiana start at $200 and prices for house calls in Chicago start at $300. I can calculate your actual cost after speaking to you.

Intensive couples therapy house calls start at $3250. This includes 2, one on one individual sessions to assess your needs and 2, six hour intensive sessions as a couple. All assessment and reading materials are included in the cost. Unique requests such as intensive getaways can be discussed.

Fees for other services including concierge-type therapy, house calls requiring air travel, etc. can be discussed if desired.

How do I get an appointment?

You can contact me through the “Get Started” button at the bottom of every page of my website. The page it takes you to will have instructions on what to do next.

What do I need to know about our first session?

All you need to do is show up. You do not need to have something prepared to talk about or specific questions to ask. This is a collaborative process and we can figure it out together.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

Please contact me at least 48 hours before our session if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you cancel within the 48 hour window I will try to reschedule you for that same week to avoid incurring the late cancellation fee, but if we are not able to do that you will be responsible for the full fee for your session. My schedule is usually quite full , so same week reschedules are often not an option.

How long will this take?

Therapy doesn’t have a standardized timeline. The amount of time it takes to reach your goals is unique to you. Sometimes that is a few months and sometimes it is several years.

Why weekly?

My priority is successful outcomes in therapy. When I look at the research and my professional experience, those coming for therapy weekly have much more success in therapy than those coming less than weekly. It is easy to let the short amount of time you spend in therapy be an afterthought as soon as you walk out the door. Weekly sessions help keep you on track to reach your goals.
